Study Hall - Flower Gardening in Southern Appalachia w/ Leonora Stefanile

  • Oak & Grist Distilling Company 1556 Grovestone Road Black Mountain, NC, 28711 United States (map)

Kicking off the new year with something different.

Study Hall at Oak & Grist Distilling is your chance to listen and learn from local experts and scholars. We are bringing specialists from a wide variety of fields to the distillery to speak on what they know best. Grab a drink, sit back, and become a little bit smarter.

Our first speaker is Leonora Stefanile and she will be digging into one of her favorite subjects: Flower Gardening in Southern Appalachia

Add beauty to your garden, home, and plate with flower gardening. Learn which plants are easy to grow while providing cut flowers, edible flowers, and year-round color in the garden. Special focus will be given to incorporating native flowers into your garden, to better support pollinators, songbirds, soil vitality, and overall ecosystem health.

About Leonora:

Leonora Stefanile is the manager of the Dr. John Wilson Community Garden in Black Mountain, NC where she and her team of staff and volunteers grow flowers and vegetables for Bounty & Soul's no-cost markets so that all in the community can enjoy the heart-lifting beauty of flowers along with nourishing, fresh produce. She is also the farmer/owner of Hummingbird Waltz Flowers, a small organic flower farm and florist based in Asheville, NC, where she and her team provide fresh and dried cut flower bouquets locally.  Leonora also has a background in native plant landscaping, specializing in native wildflower pollinator gardens in residential settings.
